The Making of The Luna Print

Take a journey through the European countryside and go behind the design with Amour Vert and the artisans of LINEASTUDIO.

THE INSPIRATION
Whether you’re winding through the picturesque valleys of Provence or the wine country in Northern California, a field of poppies is an unexpected delight. So when a member of our design team came across one, she thought it was a perfect visual for fall, given the flower’s elements of duality. Beautiful yet poisonous, delicate by nature yet visually graphic.

THE ARTISANS
The team turned to the famed Italian print house LINEASTUDIO, who have been hand-painting fabrics in their Como workshop since 1970. It’s where generations of artisans spend months perfecting a single design, passing down their traditions to ensure the historic techniques will live on.

THE TECHNIQUE
The poppy flowers and fauna were painted on canvas with tempera paint (sometimes called egg tempera), delivering a vibrant and opaque finish. The design was then scanned and recolored exclusively for our fall collection, as on the Ellie Washable Silk Dress or the Blaze Washable Silk Skirt.
